This is our 8th year providing this educational opportunity and it grows every year!
 
Raising a baby chick is one of the most rewarding things that happens on the farm and we love the chance to share that with you.
 
In just a few weeks we'll be getting our annual shipment of laying hens for the year. They spend the first few weeks in a brooder under heat lamps, just eating, chirping, growing, and looking cute! They also change quickly in the first two weeks, and so it's a great time to observe these changes and be amazed by creation.
 
Rent-a-Chick is a way for you to experience that same joy with your family! So what are the details of this program? You will get to take 3 fluffy chicks home for 2 weeks. We will supply the box to keep them in, feed, and a heat lamp.  You will find some place warm and safe at home to keep them, preferably a place visible for everyone to see the changes that occur each and every day. You'll get to enjoy their sweet chirping and cuteness for the next two weeks. Then about the time they start to get large enough to cause trouble you will bring them back out to the farm where they will finish growing and ultimately join our laying flock, or another families flock that purchases the young hens from us later in the spring.
 
This item will be available on our store under pickup and delivery, BUT THEY MUST BE PICKED UP ON FARM between 12 am and 2 on Saturday, January 24th. You will receive an additional email from us with more information on Thursday, January 22nd.
 
Chicks will be returned to the farm Sunday, February 7th between Noon and 2pm.
