Farmsgiving: From Identity Crisis to Annual Community Tradition

Can I be honest with you?
Last year, as we tried to celebrate 10 years of Bowers Farm, the year became what we joke was our biggest identity crisis. While we wanted to rejoice in a decade of farming, we were heavy with uncertainty. We were asking hard questions: Should we keep going? If so, in what areas? Does this still bring us joy? What is working, and what do we need to let go of?
And in the middle of all that soul-searching, Farmsgiving was born—not because we had a polished plan, but because we looked at each other and said, “I think we need this.”
People thought we were a little crazy for planning a big farm gathering and not charging a dime, not knowing how many people would be coming, or if there would be enough food. But it wasn’t about money or perfection - it was about gathering, about gratitude, about remembering that through all the doubt, Bowers Farm had always been about people, land, and connection.
We didn’t take a headcount—but those we've asked who were here say there were easily 150 people. We were completely overwhelmed in the best way! We just kept adding tables for the food, laughing as the dishes kept coming and the people kept arriving.
There was no agenda.
No ticket.
No VIP seating.
Just community, stories, kids running around, and a whole lot of joy.

As Brandon and I stood together to welcome everyone and say a blessing, we knew right then: This is going to be an annual thing! And told everyone to go ahead and mark their calendars for November 16th, 2025.
We live in a world that feels like it's constantly trying to pull us apart, highlight our differences, make it seem like we're fighting with one another. But Farmsgiving is different. In a world that feels so divided, Farmsgiving is proof of what brings us together. It shows the power of a shared meal, the joy in community, and that giving thanks is a universal thing.
It was a reminder that this land has always been more than a farm—it’s been a gathering place, a place of welcome, a place of shared meals and shared dreams.
