We are a few weeks removed from our month full of Farm Camp, but we want the fun to continue! In our last blog we shared a bit about what makes Bowers Farm Summer Camp so special, and in this blog we're excited to share some of the items that help us have such a great time! We are asked over and over by our campers and their parents about certain items we use, so check out below what we have to say about some of our go to items from this summer!
Picnic Blankets: Your Trusty Companion

One essential item that has stood the test of time at Bowers Farm Summer Camp is our trusty picnic blankets. We found these online and they just finished their SECOND summer of camp. They have held up well, washed incredibly, and will be used again next year! The only problem is camp is getting bigger, so it's time to add another blanket or two so we have more space.
Up, Up, and Away with Parachutes at Playtime

Who would have thought that a simple parachute would bring so much joy and excitement? Our next item to spotlight is another that has stood the test of time. These parachutes have made it through their second summer of camp and have certainly held up way better than our expectations. These parachutes were constantly the source of laughter and joy as kiddos launched balls into the air, tried to sit underneath them, or created and played their own games. Their creativity with this open-ended toy was a beautiful thing to witness. Parachutes will always be a staple at Bowers Farm Summer Camp for our playtime station!
Crafting Magic: Pots, Rocks, Paint Pens, and Beads Galore

Craft time at Bowers Farm Camp is a magical experience filled with endless possibilities. This year, other than one staple craft, we had all new craft experiences for our campers. We painted rocks, made bead bracelets, painted flower pots, and let our imaginations run with our "egg-cartoon creation". Armed with pots, rocks, paint pens, and beads, our campers unleashed their creativity and let their imaginations run wild. Some of our favorite items this year were the paint pens we used for the rocks, the wooden farm beads we had for their bracelets, and the flower pots we used for our second summer in a row. They have held up great!
Hands-On Learning
Every year we've been adding different interactive games and activities to make learning a little more fun. We try to incorporate different types of activities because we know that everyone learns differently. What might work for one kiddo might not work for another. One fun activity this year was Go Find It, an outdoor scavenger hunt game. There are lot of ways to play this game with any size group. This was our first year using this and it was a hit! We also purchased two layered puzzles (a sunflower and laying hen) and lifecycle posters. These were awesome additions to our lesson time and helped our campers see concepts in a different way. It's awesome when we're able to find a new manipulative to help us share farming with our campers and these get an A+ from us this year.
Books! Books! Books!
Story time is a favorite at Farm Camp! Every year the library available to our counselors to read to their campers grows, and honestly, maybe I should do an entire blog on the books, but here are some of our absolute favorites!

And I've got to tell you the truth, one of the coolest things about story time this year was seeing my very own book being read to our campers! This was one of the highlights for me for sure!
In a world filled with screens and gadgets, Bowers Farm Summer Camp offers a refuge where nature, creativity, and connection with one another through art and games take center stage. As we pack up our picnic blankets, gather our parachutes, put our favorite books back on the shelf, and sort through what's left of our craft supplies, we carry with us not just memories but a sense of wonder and belonging that defines the spirit of summer at Bowers Farm.
