Supporting Local: It's about more than food!

Supporting local isn’t just about food for us—it’s everything.

Sure, we still get paper towels on autoship from Amazon and I love Chick-fil-a fries (we’re not perfect, and I’ll never pretend we are), but we do try to be intentional about thinking local in every part of our life. My hope is that if I share some of our favorite local finds, it will inspire you to shop local too!

So, let’s talk about fall décor. 🍂

I know some people think it’s too early, but I LOVE decorating for fall. I start at Labor Day, and it stays up until mid-November when Christmas sneaks in. 😉

Pumpkins grown by Red Foot Farm

I always grab a few pumpkins for our front steps. This year’s pumpkins came from Red Foot Farm in Little Mountain. Plenty of places sell pumpkins, but very few actually grow their own. Red Foot is an incredible farm to support—plus, follow them on Facebook to catch their winter veggies when they’re ready!

Another spot to keep an eye on is Farm 1780. They’ve got a real pumpkin patch (not just pumpkins set out on the ground), where you can pick your own. They’re not quite ready yet, but definitely give them a follow so you know when the patch opens.

Now let's head inside for our dinning room tablescape! What’s a tablescape? Think of it as landscaping…for your table! And I am in love with how ours came together this year, thanks to four incredible, local, women-owned businesses:

  1. Grace Langdon Art at Called Creative Studio – You can find Grace's artwork in shops all over the U.S., but her studio is right here in Little Mountain. Our placemats are hers, and she’s got so many fall and Halloween-inspired goodies—napkins, tea towels, wine toppers, cards, and more. You can shop online anytime and pick up from their signature pink locker by the studio.

  2. Lisa Smith at Called Creative Studio – Lisa is Grace's mom and they own Called Creative together, and Lisa’s papier-mâché artwork is so fun! I grabbed a set of three fall leaves, but she also has the cutest pumpkins, acorns, and plenty of year-round pieces as well!

  3. LOL Studio – Just around the corner, LOL Studio is both a creative space and gift shop. I found the two glass acorns there. They’re full of amazing fall décor, and it’s one of those places you have to browse more than once—you’ll always spot something you missed! They also carry my favorite beeswax taper candles—clean, slow burning, and available in beautiful seasonal colors.

  4. Store 34 - And right down the road from the farm is Store 34, a super fun antique shop where I found the sweetest felt pumpkins and acorns for the final touch of the centerpiece. I just love how the different the textures and colors all came together

As you’re thinking about fall décor—or even looking ahead to Christmas—skip the big box stores.

Target won’t remember your name when you walk in.

Hobby Lobby won’t ask how your business is going.

TJ Maxx won’t notice if you shop there or not, honestly, I bet their staff is happy with a slow day.

But you know who will? A small, local business.

They’ll greet you by name, ask how your family’s doing, and appreciate that you chose to stop by. That connection is worth more than any coupon code.

So this season, let’s decorate—and celebrate—local.
